Business Cycles Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Business Cycles - Essay ExampleMost observers find that the length of a business roll from peak to peak, or from bottom to bottom vary, so that cycles atomic number 18 non systematic in their regularity. In fact, economic history shows that no two cycles are alike. Some economists dispute the existence of real cycles and use the term fluctuations instead. Others see enough similarities between shifts in economy and claim that studying business cycles in detail is a powerful tool which can serve us to determine the current state of the economy. The key question concerning business cycles is whether or not similar mechanisms that generate ecological niches and booms in capitalist economies exist.Periods of stagnation are a great burden for society. Being painful for large majorities of workers who lose their jobs, they produce squelch on polity makers to try to smooth out the oscillations. A very important goal of Western civilization since the Great Depression has been to limit the dips. However, politics intervention in the economy can be a risky business. For example, some of Herbert Hoovers reforms (including tax increases) are widely believed to have deepened the depression.Managing economic policy in order to reduce the negative side effects of business cycle bottoms is not an easy job in a society with a entangled economy, even when the theory of Keynes is applied. According to some nineteenth-century advocates of communism, this is an insurmountable difficulty. For instance, Karl Marx claimed that the business cycle crises of the capitalistic economy were inevitable results of its operations. From this point of view, all that governments can do is to abide the inevitable economic crises and to hope that they will not appear during their stay in power. Even then, crisis could emerge in a different form, for example as severe, unexpected inflation or an increasing government deficit. Worse, by delaying a crisis, western governments are seen as maki ng it more painful for their successors and more striking for the whole society. In addition to the wide-spread left-wing criticism, Neoclassical economists question the ability of Keynesian policies to manage an economy. Challenging the Phillips Curve Nobel Laureates such as Milton Friedman and Edmund Phelps argue that inflationary expectations negate the Phillips Curve in the long run. Their theory was supported by the stagflation of the 70s. Friedman claimed that all the Fed can do is to avoid large mistakes. He believes that the fast contracting of the money supply in the face of the Stock Market Crash of 1929 was such a big mistake. It turned what would have been a recession into a great depression (Rothbard, 1975). That is why, good forecasts of the cyclical movements of the economy and especially of the turning points of a business cycle are critical to improve policy decisions. The means of monetary and fiscal policy can also help to smooth the cycle out.The Austrian School of economics does not accept the innuendo that business cycles are inherent features of an unregulated economy and seeks for their origins in governmental intervention in the money supply. Austrian School economists underline the role of pursuit rates as the price of investment capital, which stays in the base

The architectural characteristics that are most directly related with the Greeks, columns and stairs, began developing in this era (Scott 19). Three orders developed distinctive patterns for the columns on their temples, with the Corinthian column style having the most elaborate and decorative columns, hence the rarest. The Doric style use by the Spartans was the simplest. Ionic columns were slender compared to the Doric and twice the height. The Romans, like the Greeks, utilize Doric, Corinthian and Ionic column styles. However, the Romans discovered the structural and artistic worth of arches and domes. They used arches because they could sustain immense weights, enabling them to construct larger and more decorativ e structures (Bony 33).The Gothic cathedrals were representations of the universe in miniature scale. Each architectural concept, including the loftiness and enormous dimensions of the structure, were meant to put across theological significance the great glory of God just as he was plentyed by the Christians. The geometrical and mathematical natures of the buildings were influenced by the Christians view of an orderly universe, in which can be perceived an underlying logic and rationality (Scott 39). The murals, statues, stained glass and sculptural decoration integrate the spirit of reality in portrayals of the Zodiac, Labors of the Months, Lives of the Saints and referring to eternity in the Last Judgment and Coronation of the Virgin (Bony 12). However, through the years Latin remained to be a marker of Romanness. The trading opportunities for Rome Empire were diverse and plentiful. Roman glassware and pottery were traded east. Importing commodities that a country can produce more cheaply will only contain to trade deficits, hence a bad economic policy.TRUE Demand curve for an inferior good must be upwards-sloping due to the fact that the income and successor effects work in different directions. Whereas a decrease in price of an inferior good causes more consumption via the substitution effect, the same is potential to cause less consumption given the income effect (Lipsey & Chrystal, 2007). In the below figure, X is a inferior good while Y is a habitual good given the reduction and increase in demand respectively due to increases in income (income substitution).TRUE Marginal apostrophize (MC) is the additional cost incurred in producing one more unit hence it changes with changes in the quantity produced. Politica Science - society and state in contemporary russia Essay

Politica Science - society and state in contemporary russia - Essay ExampleA state can broadly be defined as a government that has been set up by the sight which essentially means that all people living under that government should be entitled to have their opinion considered in everything that affects their lives. Furthermore, democracy can also be exercised directly or indirectly through which people elect their representatives. In light of this, it is absurd that two decades down the line despite the dissolution of USSR chairwoman Yeltsin failed to horn our promise to violate democracy and improve the lives of Russian citizens. This just proves that Russia is still categorized as one of the authoritarian states in Europe. As much as most of the leading have improved the countrys economic status both domestic and international policies it is believed that from the essays not free a lot of factors have hindered Russias democracy development (Motyl 2005). For the first time power within Kremlin changed through the 2000, election this process not only took place but was conducted according to the governing body more than two thirds of the eligible voters participated. They appeared to be well informed of choices to make. However, up to now Russian political conditions do not meet the criteria of democracy a political framework must be adopted to understand democracy adequately (Chomsky, et al 2003). Some political analysts such as Joseph Schumpeter describes democracy as an institutional arrangement for arriving at a political decision that help politicians in the acquisition of the power necessary for them to decide by way of their assay to obtain votes from the citizens (Josephi 2010). Basically his definition may suggest that countries only differ in the degree to which institutional conditions are satisfied. Perhaps that is the reason why president Yeltsin ascended to power and failed to live up to his promises. Most Russians still point out that with the rioting on October 2nd the liberal regime suppressed the angry communists. afterward a time period of approximately ten years since 23 Russian citizens lost their lives, the Russian government is still expounding on the legend that the crackdown was just to topple Mr. Yeltsin political opponents (Lucas 2009). This left many with the view that Mr. Yeltsin is a democratic hypocrite who never had the peoples interests at heart. All he had was his own vested interests. From that moment, descending from power without going to prison for him was inevitable perhaps that is why he saw in an inherited presidency system as a scapegoat perhaps that is why he ensured Mr. Vladimir Putin came to power (Marot 2012). When United Russia party chanced to win a working majority in the 2003 Russian parliamentary elections, the Russian president Putin was seen to set out and attempt to critically undercut most of the opposition parties that were active in the country. He instigated changes in vari ous electoral policies that allowed the government to effectively manage to shut out a variety of the smaller political parties focusing mainly on those that had been perceived as cosmos key advocates of liberal democracy. Other changes that were made caused it to become extremely difficult for parties to manage to field presidential candidates in a presidential ballot (Ethridge and Handelman 2012). pursuance the unexpected resignation of President Boris Yeltsin in 2000 Vladimir was assigned to

A topic related to religion and the environment - Research Paper ExampleIndeed the intelligence does not directly tell anything about how man should interact with the environment but concept of nature occupies an important part of Christian faith. A heartfelt Christian inevitably believes that the nature or in a broader term, the universe is the creation of deity and man is merely graven images tenant in it. Depending on this doctrinal premise, scholars further build up the Christian environmentalism. Man as the tenant of God on earth should not perturb Gods house. Thus Christianity advocates for an intimate, harmonious and friendly relationship with nature. But the debates on Christianity-and-Environment relationship evolve from the claim that man has been created in the image of God which necessarily entails that man is entitled with the ownership of this world. The Christian belief about the ownership status of man is supported by the Bible as following permit us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over completely the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground (Genesis 126 and 28).During the industrial era, the Christian belief persists that since the world is Gods and man is His true representative on earth, the world belongs to man. Such doctrinal reasoning inspired the industrial society to use the environmental resources ruthlessly and recklessly, as Hansberry notes in this regard Some Christians concur interpreted this story as giving people the right to exploit the environment. (1) Behind this ruthless use of earthly resources there is another belief that God is generous and that He has created everything for mans consumption. It is as if they are the dregs of society, ignored and not let outn proper care and attention. They are misunderstood, and viewed as if they have contagious diseases, and are by nature, violent. A lot of people are afraid to work in jail, due to the situation some of these men can be dangerous at times. I am aware that for me to help these men and women, I need to have a professional license. With the right training at Walden University, I know I will be ready to take care and help these individuals with their needs.I want to be sufficient to work w ith all type of clients, since I have been around inmates for the past six years. I would like to help them in getting their lives together. First, I want to be able to listen to what they have to say, or at least have some composition of where they want to go erst they get released from jail. Second, I want to make sure that they are capable of making decisions for themselves, especially the ones who have mental disorders. Lastly, I want to be able to locate and provide them with different types of help and sources. I will supplement the knowledge I have gained from Walden University with additional information, such as where they can go to get further assistance.I have observed so many men and women that have lost their sense of life and mind they have no idea where to start a new life or even have any kind of moral compass to know to whats right or wrong. Some of them used a lot of drugs some allowed themselves to be used sexually for money, just so they will be able to digest their everyday expenses. The system thinks the vanquish thing to do is lock them in a cell with others criminals. I believe that this should not be done. Their problems need special attention and different solutions.I believe that these people should be understood their problems should be designate within a context. These kinds of problems crop up because of the situations that push these people over the edge and engage in anti-social behavior. Once I graduate from Walden University, I will be punter equipped to deal with such cases, and give the appropriate remedy. I want to be able to solve problem without hesitation. Again, once I get the power point from Walden University, I will be able to share my information with others as soon as possible.Part two Description of Educational background and research proficiencyI received my undergraduate power point from Union Institute University in Florida 2007. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work. I like help ing people, which is why social work was and still something I want to do. I feel that in my own way, I help make the world a better place to live in. I may not be able to engage in bigger ways of changing the world, but I am doing it with baby steps. This is my approach to my education taking baby steps. I have not yet worked for a degree, due to the recessions that we going through right now. I have applied to so many places no one has called me yet. I am still hoping I get a lineage soon, so I can have some visualise by the time I graduate from Walden University with the graduate degree. I enjoy working in the field that I am in right now, because so many men and women are in desperate need of help. I am also inspired to change repeating offenders through guiding them to the right path. I am willing to take as much Walden has to offer. When I was doing my undergraduate degree in Florida, I was introduced to so many positive mentors throughout my stay in school. I was overwhelmed with the inspiring stories they told, such as how they started and the struggle they encountered in the bloodline of their studies. But they have no regrets. They encourage us to go all the way. Dont be discouraged when things turn out not gibe to ones plan, be persistent, disciplined, and most of all know what one wants in life and go for it these are the most valuable lessons I have learned from my professors. One important point one of my professors told me was to not be around people who did not have the same work ethic as mine, especially in school. This is due to the fact that it is easy to get lazy or discouraged from succeeding what I want to do with my life.My greatest worry right now is not being able to finish my graduate study, which will greatly disappoint me. I am going to try my best to stay with the program. About a month or so, I decided I want to go back to school, but I had no idea which school I wanted to attend. I knew I wanted to be a counselor. I sought on line for the school that offers the best program in psychical Health Counseling I discovered Walden University. I filled out the form they have online for more information. The next day I received a call from a certain person he told me exactly what I needed to get certain to Walden. After a couple of days, I was accepted by Walden University. Since school was starting the following week, I was happy, yet nervous, because I just made the decision, not to long ago. I kept asking myself I am ready for this. After a week or so, I made myself ready. I am still asking myself that question, especially when am stuck with an assignment. I refuse to be a quit, once I started something. I always finish the task.Part Three Program of StudyMy goal is to get that degree and use it as much as I can to even go further with a Ph.D. degree. I want to be able to produce as much as I can with my education and knowledge through Walden University. In order to do so, I have to be equipped with as much i nformation as I can take out to the field of my profession. I dont have much experience with field work in social work environment, besides the six years experience I have with Dade County Corrections Rehabilitation Department. Though this is the case, I have learned a lot, such as motivation and team work. I am not satisfied with this, of course. I am looking foregoing to more experience while I am at Walden University, and beyond. My academic skill is to be able to discipline my self as much as I can, so I wont fall behind in the program and my coursework. Secondly, I am still indeed working on organizing my priorities, to what needs to be done and when it has to be done I plan on having a schedule plan with each semester. I want to put things in perspective, so that I am able to become one of the students at Walden who will be used as example for the new students. Fortunately, my scheduled is very flexible at the present. My weakness, however is having a writers block when I have to write a paper. To resolve this, I commonly walk away from that assignment or coursework for at least an hour. Once I am ready to write my paper, I use Microsoft Word for my spell and grammar check. Since English is my third language, I make sure I have access to an editor and to not forget the writing center at Walden, which has and continue to be of great help with my writing.Throughout my undergraduate years, I did most of my papers from the books that the professor wants us to use, not so much journals nor independent research. I am hoping Walden will prepare me for the unexpected in my graduate study. Additionally, I have attached my residencies page, and I have also done my research to where I will obtain my license through Tallahassee, Florida. Also, I have attached my course work and course work definition of each course. Conclusion Walden and my victimizationGiven my academic background, I know that I am capable of accomplishing a lot. I know that I can develop into a b etter social worker. I have a lot to offer, and not just my skills. Skills, I feel can only get one so far. Passion, I feel, is much more important. It determines how much you will achieve, and how far you will go. It also puts humanity in whatever work one is doing. This I feel is the on-key essence of service not only getting things done, but getting things done because people are dependent on you to achieve these things. With my passion for dower people, and the training Walden is giving me, I will transcend success I will put the warmth and correction back in social work.
